A common question we receive is, "Why do you treat Ash trees every year instead of every two years?" The answer lies in ensuring the highest level of protection for your trees against the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB).
When clients ask about the chances of their tree dying even after treatment, our response is always the same: "It depends on the treatment method, the chemical used, the rate of application, and the timing of the treatments."
As your Tree Health Experts, our goal is to provide the most effective service and treatments possible for your trees. Imagine if we treated your trees every two years over six years, and despite that, your tree still succumbed to the EAB.
You would understandably feel like those years and hundreds of dollars were wasted, and you would likely lose trust in our services.
That scenario is something we work hard to avoid.
To better understand why we recommend annual treatments, let’s take a closer look at the label for the product we use on Ash trees.
The labels for all products used in treating Ash trees include disclaimers about tree health and environmental conditions that can impact treatment effectiveness.
They all state that treatments last "up to two years." But let’s dig a little deeper into what this actually means. The label states:"At the time of initial application, note the health level of each tree. Re-evaluate treated trees at 12-month intervals to determine the need for additional treatment.
Consider applying preventative applications 12-36 months after the initial injection.
Trees in high pest pressure areas or highly valued trees should be evaluated for retreatment 12 months after each treatment.
"For us, this means that extending the interval beyond one year increases the risk that the EAB could still damage your tree.
There’s no doubt that we are in a high pest pressure area.
And if you’re treating a tree, it’s clearly a "highly valued tree" because you’re investing your hard-earned money to protect it and preserve its value.
So, the question becomes: Are you willing to take a chance to save a little money, or do you prefer the peace of mind that comes from knowing your investment is protected to the fullest extent of our knowledge and ability?
When you take a common-sense approach and consider the cost versus value—just as hundreds of our customers have—you can rest easy knowing that your trees are under the expert care of Tree Health Experts.
